Girlfriend Experience was really good. I really loved Sasha Grey’s acting in it. I hope we see a lot more from her as an actress soon.

Thank you, Mark! One of my reasons for giving my opinion on film is in hopes of bringing the attention of others to films that might not be seen by many otherwise. Spike Lee’s film had a weird history. I first saw it as spart of a tribute to Spike’s career (he was interviewed and answered questions prior to the film) at the Seattle International Film Festival this past summer. It was a privilege. The film itself was astonishing. It was limitedly released theatrically on August 21, 2009 (interestingly, same day as Tarantino’s film). It was also put on Sundance Selects Video On Demand. I saw it again that way, taped it and have since seen it a third (and soon, fourth time) It comes to PBS this January and DVD on January 12 from IFC Films. I love it to death.

I like your list because your choices are fascinating. Some I agree with (The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, A Single Man) some I don’t (Knowing, Where the Wild Things Are) and some (that I haven’t seen) were widely trounced by critics (The Box, Orphan) Your #1 movie is something I’ve never even heard of. Thanks for bringing this film and several others to my attention. I’ll check them out.
